We Answer Some of Your Common Questions about Tankless Water Heaters

One of the special services that we provide our customers is installing tankless water heating systems. Tankless water heaters continue to grow in popularity in the U.S. each year, and in Europe, they’re already the standard and have been so for more than a decade. However, there are still many misunderstandings out there about tankless water heaters, and we’d like to take this opportunity to answer some of the more common questions people have about them.

“Is the tankless water heater a new invention?”

People ask this because they’re unsure if tankless systems have had enough time to be tested and developed. The truth is that tankless systems were first invented over a hundred years ago. They’ve had plenty of time to mature to the point where they’re superior at energy efficiency and performance compared to storage tank systems.

“Aren’t tankless water heater unreliable and prone to breaking down?”

They used to be. Not anymore, however. The misunderstanding about their unreliability is based on outdated models and information.

“Is it difficult to switch over from a storage-tank water heater to a tankless one?”

Not at all. Homeowners are doing it all the time, and when you call on experienced plumbers who frequently work with tankless water heaters, the job should go smoothly.

“How long will a tankless water heater last?”

Much longer than a storage-tank water heater, although the actual life expectancy is different from model to model. Tankless systems do not expend as much energy as tank systems, which helps them endure for longer.

“What energy source do tankless water heaters use?”

They can run from either electricity or natural gas. Electric tankless systems are often used for individual appliances. A natural gas system is better suited for whole-house use and is the best choice if you’re looking to save money.
