Ductless System Trouble: Why Won’t My Heater Start Up?

While we may only experience pretty mild winters around these parts, it still gets cold enough to warrant the use of an efficiently functioning heater—particularly at night. And the last thing you want to encounter on a bitterly cold evening is a heater that won’t start up at all.

Of course, if your ductless split system malfunctions, it’s something you want to have taken care of right away. Scheduling maintenance before winter hits is the best way to prevent problems like this from occurring, however whether or not you scheduled this appointment doesn’t matter when you find yourself with a broken down heater in the middle of winter. Keep reading to learn about why your ductless system may not be starting up, and keep our number on hand if you do in fact need repairs of any kind.

Your Thermostat May Be the Problem

No matter what type of heating system you have, the first thing you should check when it won’t turn on is the thermostat. Is yours set correctly? Sometimes the problem is as simple as someone accidentally setting it to the wrong temperatures. Additionally, if you have a programmable thermostat, you should check that the program is set so the heat will come on when it should.

If the thermostat is set correctly, then it could be an issue with the calibration of the device, causing the thermostat to read the temperature incorrectly, or it can be an electrical failure of some kind, disconnecting the thermostat from the ductless system.

You May Have a Tripped Circuit Breaker

The operation of your ductless system takes up a large majority of your electrical system. As such, they can sometimes trip circuit breakers. Check your electrical panel or fuse box to see if this is the case. If the system continues to trip the breakers, then you might have an electrical issue on your hands, which requires the professional touch of skilled technicians—such as the members of our staff.
